So for 2009 – No plans up to now. its already Jan end…

When i was to back to home from my office, i just thought what i had done in the year 2008…

2008 an eye opener in my life.  I got exposed to books, new friends, some unexpected twists in my career. My friendship with collegaues got bolstered…. I took lot of efforts personally to keep up the relationship with everybody which i never done it previously.

I also got terrific changes in my career. I could see that my seniors started expecting a lot more from me. This made me to feel proud.  I learnt to work independently which is again a big acheivement.

I spent some good time in reading books.

Here are the list of books i read

1. Life of swami vivekananda by eastern and western disciples(Part 1)
2. Autobiography of a Yogi by Swami Yogananda
3. My experiments with Truth by M.K.Gandhi
4. Autobiography of Nehru(Incomplete)
5. Malgudi Landscapes (Incomplete)
6. N number of blogs..which i cant put here

I came to know a lot about literary world especially Tamil and English. This is something great.  I have also tried writing a short story and also tasted  success in that.  Yes,  I got prize for my first short story which made its entry in an internal competition.

Books i read in 2008 come under the category of biographies…I think they are more inclined to spiritual science. It took a lot of time for me to understand the facts mentioned in that.

What about 2009….?

I need to read more and more books…This is not a resolution. But my wish.

Back to 2008, some interesting things happened in my life which i never faced it. Ya..Your thinking is right. I got noticed by some X -Factors…I have witnessed it.  I dont want to reveal their names as i am also not sure of thier names…

Those incidents intially it made me to feel nervous, but i got adapted to it. I will try to post those experiences as a separate one…

P.S.:Well i need to give another excuse. i mentioned about writing about Gandhi in previous blog…but still i am not finding time to post. Still the post is in draft stage.

The above words made me to think “Have I achieved anything in my life? “.  I was confused. I made a deep self analysis about me and finally came to conclusion. I am just writing here a part of that.

 At teens, I had no idea about engineering colleges.  At that period, up to my knowledge I had seen people who go to colleges would have big books in their hands.  So I thought completing Engineering degree was a big accomplishment in my life.  But the current trend makes me to think that it’s not an accomplishment but a valid entry pass to get a decent job. 

I am accepting the fact that getting a degree in engg. is not an easy for an average student.  It’s an achievement for him.  But today’s world demands more than that. I am an average student and I got a Bachelor degree in Engineering. It’s an achievement but what can I do with that? I can see lakhs and lakhs of students achieving the same with ease.  Should I consider it as an achievement? 

When I was doing my engineering, my close friends view was to get a job before completing the degree.  Of course my parents expected me the same from me.  But I admit the fact I underperformed in so said campus interviews.  I was thrown out from the first round (Written test) itself in most of the interviews.  When I was unemployed and searching for the job I understood true meaning of Darwin’s words “Survival of the fittest” which is not only applicable to biology but to our life. 

I got a job.  My well wishers felt I achieved a landmark in my life.  But in professional environment where I work, part of my colleagues are aiming for the next level a MBA or MS degree from an alien nation.  It is their next goal.  They say “Getting job doesn’t mean that we are settled or something we achieved, but getting into higher level in the corporate ladder within short period can be termed as an achievement”.  I got a job.  Now Should I consider it as an achievement?? Or Should I aim for next level?

I don’t want to be carried away by this multitude of thoughts of people around me.  I just want to stick to my own rules.  I can’t imagine doing a MBA or a MS as my friends and colleagues are aiming for that.  I will do higher studies if it’s a real need.  If I have completed my MBA or MS and if I get a lucrative job in a MNC “Will it be a great achievement?” Again people are there who have already done it.   Whether they have achieved their goal?  If you ask them the answer is “no”

So called Achievement by an individual can be considered as a benchmark set by him/her in the relevant field.  If we are not reaching that, it doesn’t mean that we have not achieved anything. In fact to be born as a normal human being in this world itself an achievement. The above words are equivalent to the famous quote in Tamil “aridhu aridhu Maanidarai Pirthal arithu”.  Nobody will be aiming for CEO Job, if salary of both the CEO and an ordinary employee remains the same.   

What else in our life is called as an achievement? The answer is “A Selfless service to society” is an achievement.  You have to ponder at the word “Selfless” which will give answers to the most of the questions.  The above words are rendered by great people who sacrificed their life only for the good cause of the society irrespective of the field they worked. 

Are we?

P.S:  In my last post i mentioned about writing a blog about a famous personality.  But i am going through a book regarding him.  I feel thorough research is needed before writing it.  So still the particular post is in draft stage.  I will soon publish it.

Thanks to my close friends who are professional bloggers encouraged me to write blogs.  Though i started writing some blogs which are specific to particular community that is the place where i work, idea of creating external blog page remained a long lasting dream for me.

Dream came true now. Sometimes you know in our life, something happens with reason.  I dont know what is the reason to write this blog .  I hope it will serve for some good purpose.  Should be a retreat for the viewers who read it.

My next blog will be my views about a person who sacrified his life for the country.
